would have been Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.'s Birthday. and with the Inauguration the day after the country will celebrate his birthday, I can't help but think how proud he would have been to see this society have come so far, I can't think of a more fitting or better 80th birthday present than a collective "We're getting over our shit" from America.

My favorite quote from the strip ever:

"Calvin: Do you believe in the devil? You know, a supreme evil being dedicated to the temptation, corruption, and destruction of man?

Hobbes: I'm not sure that man needs the help”

Cry more you assholes, how about this... No church should be allowed to lobby... anyone... EVER... this is a patent disregard for the separation of church and state and it makes me want to vomit. Why the fuck do we put up with this shit? We allow these zealots to control our political process and get laws passed that remove constitutional RIGHTS of humans.... gay, straight, whatever. They bitch about it and try to justify by saying "people voted for it" If you hadn't lobbied to get it on the ballot it would have never been there for the functionally retarded electorate to vote on. Fuck you, you god-tards.

Mr. President-Elect,

My email is not so much a question, more a word of congratulations to you and this historic campaign. Since I decided to support you as president I've followed this race closer than I've ever followed anything in the news in my Adult life. I've voted in the presidential elections twice before, and never been more excited about a campaign or an opportunity to vote and volunteer for a candidate.

Sir, your campaign has meant more to me and proved more to me than anything this country has done in my lifetime. Your historic campaign and message of hope and change comes at a time when this country desperately needs both of those things in large amounts. Your words have inspired a new generation of political minds and hearts in this country and with a resounding vote the new America has told the old America to take a backseat. I urge you now only to follow through on all of these policies and promises you have promised.

This country needs a health care plan, this country needs a more streamlined 21st century market, this country needs to be the leader in the new global economy not a follower and not someone that the rest of the world looks at like the crazy racist cousin. I'm glad that your candidacy managed to break that perception. I consider the racially charged past of this country a blemish on our record of human rights and democracy. and the last time we took a step at admitting we were wrong on race (the sixties) creativity burst out from all directions.

I urge you to be the agent of change that I have assured so many of my family and friends that you are. I urge you to stand up to the special interests in Washington and tell them that the American people come first. Stop the corruption and lobbyists from running our country further into the ground. I'll leave you with the words of someone much smarter than me, because it's always good to close with a quote since someone has always expressed it more eloquently than I can.

"Everyone must leave something behind when he dies, my grandfather said. A child or a book or a painting or a house or a wall built or a pair of shoes made. Or a garden planted. Something your hand touched some way so your soul has somewhere to go when you die, and when people look at that tree or that flower you planted, you're there. It doesn't matter what you do ... so long as you change something from the way it was before you touched it into something that's like you after you take your hands away. The difference between the man who just cuts lawns and a real gardener is in the touching, he said. The lawn-cutter might just as well not have been there at all; the gardener will be there a lifetime"

--Ray Bradbury

Thanks for your time in reading this letter sir and thanks for your dedication to making this country a better place to live.

Sincerely,
Ryan Hutto

someone on Fbook posted the email that's been circulating that this is based on there were many people to refute it and some very good things were said. I unfriended the person and told them I was doing so, here's the exchange:

this list is full of disgusting, hateful lies and political smears, and I will be unfriending you because of it. your world view is xenophobic, racist and childish. It's a shame that people who share your mentality vote.

someone else said:

its a shame you cant see past who obama is. its really sad actually. nothing haylee has said is racist, its fact. its not childish, its fact. and i dont know what the other word means :)

I fired back:

Google will define any word you type into it. the knowledge is out there, but people like you are too slothful to even pursue it.

I see who Obama is and he's not dangerous, he's not a muslim and he's not some scary black dude like all these racist morons think. he's the better candidate and you're completely snowed if you believe that ANY republican is capable of leading this country, (look where 8 years of republican rule has gotten us)

Then someone who agreed with me DEFENDED her:

i agree with you ryan, but it is pretty shallow to say you will delete someone as a friend based on their point of view.

I lost my shit and basically went into bastard mode:

No, deleting someone as a friend based on a shitty POV is not shallow. Racism is shallow, Xenophobia is shallow, the inability to open your ears and listen when someone is telling you the truth is shallow.

Spreading 38 lies about my candidate is shallow, propping up the fear tactics and lies of a frustrated GOP is shallow. There's no reason for someone to spread DISPROVEN lies about anyone, let alone a political candidate, then it becomes Propaganda.

There is no room for propagandists on my Flist

What the fuck is wrong with People?

I mean there was no reason for this to be posted when all you have to do to refute ALL of these claims is GOOGLE THEM. Our downfall as a country will not be some terrorist attack or some financial crisis, our downfall as a country will be our lack of a thirst for any kind of knowledge that isn't American Idol or Dancing with the stars. Our downfall will be based on our laziness and unwillingness to do a little research.

Fuck!

You're wrong, it's that simple McSame offers nothing in the way of a health plan that Americans so desperately need, maybe you don't worry about it because you don't have to sir, but trust me when I say there's those of us that do have to worry about how we're going to pay for our kids to see a doctor. All McSame offers is his "5000 dollar refundable tax credit" last time I checked health insurance costs a WHOLE FUCKING LOT MORE THAN THAT. Republicans suck at math, jeez and if you have insurance through work those benefits will be taxed under a McSame administration. you guys REALLY suck at math.

as far as my use of 4 letter words goes you may not have to curse to get attention because you're a WASP who supports the status quo, those of us who do not support your status quo, because it's only positive effects are for your ilk. We have to yell, scream and raise tetotal hell to get noticed at all. So I'm completely used to yelling obseceneties at people like you, it's almost second nature

I do understand the way that "macroeconomics" works and I do understand what our country needs. You lump me in with a group of Beer swillers when clearly I am much more than that. I am a progressive, and my progressive ideas frighten you because you are so afraid that the mean old liberals are going to trample your american dream. I personally could give 2 shits about your American dream and would love to trample it just to change your world view from "myopic backwoods idiot" to "someone who actually gives a fuck about the other people in the free society" which you claim to love so much

You're ridiculous, your candidate is ridiculous, and the idea that you're voting for this person other than "he's just a crusty old white man like me" is utterly ridiculous. You're probably the guy who started the "OMG OBAMA IS A MUSLIM"" Chain mail.

Xenophobia n. - ze-nə-ˈfō-bē-ə

1. Fear and hatred of strangers or foreigners or of anything that is strange or foreign.

2. What got us into this mess in the first place.

I've come to realize something: Terrorist is the new communist and Sarah Palin is the new Joe McCarthy.

It's the same tactics Nixon used when he ran for Veep, Quayle accused Clinton of it in '92.

America has become so terrified that it's crept into our political discourse to an alarming extent. Which means in the long term (7 years removed from the attacks) the Terrorists have fucking won. We've sacrificed our freedoms (Patriot act, FISA.) We've destroyed our economy ($700bn "financial rescue".) We've fought a war that hasn't made us any safer, only furthered our President's agenda of malfeasance.

It pains me to say it, but the guys who ran the planes into the buildings as a first act of war ARE WINNING. If they hated our freedoms, prosperity and global influence, The Republican administration as you can bet another Republican administration have run all of these things into the ground.

I'm going to say this as succinctly as possible:

Through your actions Mr. Bush we are on the losing side of the war on terror. A war that you put us in, and a war that you are now LOSING.

I DON'T WANT TO LOSE TO THESE GUYS. THEY LIVE IN CAVES FOR FUCK'S SAKE.

I've been reading Supreme court rulings all day and realizing that we are a hare's breath away from a right wing controlled supreme court. I began to realize that in most of these close call decisions one justice would be the difference. The next POTUS will appoint possibly 3 Associate justices to the court.

I had decided to leave this alone, but the willingness to blame the media for fuckall everything has got to fucking stop. Asking someone what publications they read is not gotcha journalism, unless you don't fucking read anything. Katie Couric, while a great journalist she might be (sarcasm) didn't really ask you any hard hitting questions Governor, these were easy questions that every citizen could answer especially if they were college educated. You flubbed and now your base is pissed at the VAST LIBERAL CONSPIRACY ONOZ! why? because you told them to be pissed.

This is like watching the proverbial bull in the china shop blame the plates for being breakable.

Also, Bill Ayers?

fucking really? let's just go back 4 months and take a look at how far the Bill Ayers, Jeremiah Wright omg muslim thing vaulted Hillary. oh yeah, she fucking lost. oops

Why in the hell would you retry a strategy that clearly failed for the last person to contend with this guy?

Because you don't have anything REAL on pertinent and pressing issues to talk about. so instead you (and your supporters) sling racial epithets, insults and false accusations toward anyone with an opposing world view. Fuck you and fuck this kind of politics.

I sincerely hope that this electorate proves that once and for all we can be done with this kind of Karl Rove campaigning. I thought John McCain of all people would appreciate this after the way these jackbooted thugs Stole the 2000 primary season with the Black baby rumor (Google it if you haven't) in South Carolina.

To be honest we should be talking about how well John McCain has served this country as President, not how bad he's going to fuck it up if he becomes president, I guess though that 8 more years of lobbyists, special interests and PACs his entire world view has changed from that of a Maverick, to that of a... whore.

his response to my disdain for the Paulson bailout

Dear Mr. Hutto:

Thank you for your letter regarding the economy, the financial markets and the proposal from the Treasury Secretary to the Congress.

We are in difficult financial times, and I am committed to protecting the savings and jobs of the people of Georgia by making sound decisions on both immediate actions as well as long-term actions.

First, our economic stress is rooted in the decline of the housing market. The cause of the decline was the funding of marginal credit mortgages (subprime) through the creation of mortgage-backed securities that were sold around the world. As the default and foreclosure rate on these mortgages increased, the value of the securities declined. As the values declined, the balance sheet of the financial institutions that bought them deteriorated. The market for these securities declined and ultimately evaporated, thus causing a liquidity problem for the financial institutions and a credit crisis for American consumers and small businesses.

In the immediate term, we must address the credit and liquidity crisis. In the long term, we must put in place the oversight and safeguards to ensure the transparency and accountability necessary to prevent this from happening again. The Treasury has proposed using up to $700 billion dollars to purchase, at a discount, these mortgage-backed securities. This would provide liquidity to the financial institutions and improve their balance sheets. The important question is this: "Is the taxpayer of Georgia protected?" If the Treasury properly discounts the securities to, say, 50 or 60 cents on the dollar, and holds the securities to maturity there should be little or no cost to the Treasury. More importantly, investors will return to the market and will compete with the Treasury to by these discounted securities and the market will be reestablished. I am working to ensure the safeguards necessary for maximum security for the taxpayer.

In the long term, we must bring transparency and accountability to Wall Street. While I am not a big government regulator, if the investment bankers on Wall Street were held to the same standards of transparency and accountability as our national banking system, this would not have happened. The security rating agencies such as Moody's and Standard and Poor also share some of the blame for the way they rated the subprime mortgage-backed securities, and they should be held accountable. I will work hard for the right reform of Wall Street.

The term bailout has been used a lot in this debate. Not a dollar of the $700 billion will go to the brokers who created the securities. Instead, they will go to the investors who bought them, and then only after they take a significant discount or loss. Properly executed, the Secretary of the Treasury and the Chairman of the Federal Reserve believe this proposal will restore liquidity to the credit markets and return confidence in the financial system.

I will continue to work for the best interest of our economy and the safety of the savings of the citizens of Georgia.

Thank you again for contacting me. Please visit my webpage at http://isakson.senate.gov/ for more information on the issues important to you and to sign up for my e-newsletter by choosing Newsletter Subscription from the topic list.

This is why you shouldn't vote for a ticket that includes Sarah Palin.

This is as plain and simple as it can be put, she is a neocon puppet that does not have your best interest in mind. The only reason anyone is buying into her bullshit is because the media is too soft.

She lied about the bridge to nowhere, she lied about troopergate, She has a special needs child, yet took a hacksaw to the Alaska special olympics budget.

Please, for your sake and the sake of everyone else in this country, look a little further down the rabbit hole before you make your choice on 11/4. This is an important election. Don't be a sheep.
